Tank Removal
When removing a tank from the ground, a building permit must first be acquired. We then excavate the area over the tank. All fluids and sludge have to be removed from the exposed tank. After the inside of the tank is cleaned, the tank is removed from the ground. The tank and surrounding soil are inspected for leakage. If there is no leakage or soil contamination, the tank is transported to a scrap yard, the hole is filled, and the sod replaced.

OTS will obtain permit for customer and arrange for inspection by town official along with a utilities mark out. First, we excavate the ground to the top of the tank. Then, the tank is cut opened and vacuumed where the sludge is removed and disposed. We squeegee clean and rag wipe interior surface of the tank, remove cap, fill, vent, supply and return pipes. Tank is removed and disposed. We fill the excavated area with the clean fill and with the original clean fill (sand, gravel, or dirt) then replace the original topsoil and grade. A Certificate of Approval (CA) will be issued from your local township.
